Average, thanks for making this page. I got rid of the Halo parent page, because from now on, for the most part, the only Halo we will be talking is Reach. If you don’t like this, change it back (please forgive) and then I won’t mess with the formatting again. ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, I want to add Ty’s Youtube link here, and set up an entire page just for his creations. Will work on that in the next day or so.

I will delete this message as soon as this is all taken care of.

That was a great read Johann, great find! The part about Firefight looks awesome and I think we’ll spend many FOD’s in ForgeWorld messing about and for me, building race tracks for all the vehicles.
      Come on September.

Looking forward to playing with you, Average! See you in Forge World! ๐Ÿ˜€

      This is from the interview:

Something my readers always want to know about is matchmaking. Haloโ€™s always sold well here so weโ€™ve tended to not have problems, despite our small population base, of getting lag-free games. But I was wondering if youโ€™ve done anything different for matchmaking in Reach?

“Weโ€™ve absolutely overhauled the entire networking layer, so the online multiplayer experience in general should be significantly better than in Halo 3. Weโ€™ve massively optimised that network so that games of a particular size that may have felt laggy in Halo 3 should now be very smooth in Reach. On top of that we certainly used the beta as a testing ground for that code, and paid a lot of attention to the international experience, as we always do.”

      Take that, EPIC!

Kenai, Johann, Cornie and I played a little Halo 3 to start the FOD night, and I had a surprisingly good time. I drove, Kenai manned the 50 cal. He got a ton of kills, and every kill I got for the entire match was a splatter. You know, if Bungie gave some substantial reward for assists, or if they came up with a new formula that factored assists into a new K/D type ratio, I would feel much more positive about the game.

Also, Reach MUST include jump in jump out MP gaming. It doesn’t matter how much they include the new penalty box (which I came up with), the lack of ability to jump into a match midway is ridiculously restricting. Having spent so much time playing BC2, MW2, TF2, even Gears 1 (mid match, not mid round), I find it ridiculous that I have to wait 10 minutes for their match to end before I can join them. It is especially so when I see on Johann’s screen that 2 of his teammates quit within the first minute and he and Kenai have to play shorthanded.

The news about the improved netcode for Reach has me fascinated, however.

In the Reach beta, you got a medal for each assist. That is good enough IMO.

As for jump in jump out gaming, I think that you will only be able to join games midway unless it is a custom game like in Halo 3. However, you will be able to queue join so that as soon as your friend’s game is over, it will automatically join his lobby.

Yea, jump in jump out doesn’t work for Halo IMO because its such an arena type combat game.
COD it works because its just madness and BC2 it works since there’s so many objectives on such a large scale that one player jumping in and out won’t make a huge difference. On the other hand, that happening in Halo just upsets the balance I believe, though I think that Bungie should have this possible in Invasion and Social gametypes.

Also Mike, the reason for not allowing this in many areas of Halo is how they track your levels, because levels are such an integrated part in Halo compared to BC2, it means that I being level 5 could jump into a game with people at level 10 and such, or that Johann could jump into my game and demolish all the people there and boost me. Simply too much abuse for a game that matches based on levels.
(As a note: both MW and BC2 match based on gametype and not player levels)

Btw, the Bungie weekly update shows a ton of the pieces from Forge. Pretty insane how much your able to put into that map, Johann I’m thoroughly looking forward to building stupid things like race and may be SKI Jump for Vehicles!

Nah, my Halo fanboy days ended with Halo 3’s first level (jungle-level). After that initial level, it was the same old Bungie formula: constant backtracking, same freaking ugly engine, & bunny hopping gameplay. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Even though I have Reach pre-ordered, I’m trying to keep my expectations contained. I just feel that I’ve been burned too many times with the smoke & mirrors bit. I remember making personalized dog tags for the Halo 3 LAN-party that we threw shortly after the game’s launch. Sheesh, talk about buying into their brilliant marketing.

      I hadn’t yet seen this.

Very curious who she was talking to at the end. And for those who don’t know, Cortana’s AI based herself off her maker which was the Doctor, and hence I believe they use the same voice actor.

Oh haha! Hats off to you boys. When Johann told me that I got thinking, a game for me costs 60$, a game for you costs 180-240$.
Good of the boys to be getting their own, Mike can you ask Johann if he’d still like to play tonight? I would get on between 10 and 11 and be on for roughly 2 hours.
Jimmy, you interested in some H3 as well?

I haven’t even felt inclined to launch it since it was so busted. Sad since I love me some Halo.
