For those who have to make changes to their network settings to accommodate multiple Xboxes you’ve come to the right place.   Thanks for the heads-up, Average.  This is a work in progress but with some pretty solid info.   I will clean this up more once I have had a chance to see what works and what doesn’t.

Edit #2: Instead of doing the “Port Forwarding Part”, you’ll need to do “Port Range Triggering” for ports 53, 80, 88, and 3074. Turn off your DMZ, as that’s specific to a single box and turn on UPnP. Also set MTU size to more than 1364, I use 1500.

Edit #3: This is for you guys, I just read that you should do the following above but also set one box in the DMZ zone (it tells in the bungie guide how to do this, if you can’t figure it out I can try to explain) because the router gets confused on which 360 to send to…At that point, the port range triggering is set up, the MTU and UPnP is also all setup with DMZ turned on for one console, then you should have no problems. Though it advises you have end up with Moderate NAT depending on router type.

(Yet another edit I forgot, if you go with Edit #3 options you need to have your Xbox IP’s set as Automatic and not static (this is accomplished by not following the static IP settings in the Bungie guides)

I am a network technician and I know how to solve this problem. First it wil depend on what brand of router you are using. I use A Linksys router becuase it is reliable and the tech support is the best. Since Linksys routers have Firewall to protect you from outsiders you need to set certain ports to listening mode. That means you need to open ports that Xbox Live Server requires. Other brands of Router that doesn’t have firewall doesn’t need this. The ports are 53, 80, 88, and 3074. Since you are trying to make two Xbox consoles use those ports and you are trying to connect to a server, what you needto do is to use Port Range Triggering. You can’t use Port Range Forwarding since it will only set those ports into listening mode to the IP address you set it. So if you use Port Range Forwarding it will only be open/available to one console(the one using the IP address).YOU NEED TO USE PORT RANGE TRIGGERING. Disable Port Range Forwarding and DMZ. YOU NEED TO ENABLE UPnP as well if your Linksys router have this option (other model doesn’t have this option but it is said to be enabled in default settings according to their tech support). TO SOLVE THE LAG problem set your MTU size to 1364. This settings will work even if you have one or multiple consoles running behind the router. Just remember that you need to make sure first that you have a good connection from your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Online gaming consumes a lot of bandwidth. So just couple things to do. Trigger the ports at the Port Range Triggering, set MTU to 1364 and make sure UPnP is enabled. Pleasegive me feed backs after you tried it.

I’ve never used static IP addresses for my Xbox 360s but maybe try DHCP instead because uPnP request may be made only after DHCP.  I remember reading about some who had problems with static IPs.

So maybe try the following:

MAKE SURE YOU APPLY CHANGES AFTER CHANGING YOUR SETTINGS (also make sure there are no errors reported afterwards)!
1.  Set all Xbox 360s to DHCP then power off(remove any static IP addresses for the Xbox 360)
2.  Enable Static port in advanced outbound nat
3.  Enable uPnP and ensure the upnp service is in fact running
4.  Go to the Status –> uPnP page and click clear button to clear entries and restart uPnP service
5.  Remove any port forwards to the xbox 360s and dealing with ports TCP/UDP 3074 and TCP 88
6.  Remove any firewall rules dealing with TCP/UDP 3074 and TCP 88 or the Xbox 360 (just to be safe)
7.  Turn on one Xbox 360, sign in to Xbox Live and verify that the Xbox has an entry in the Status –> uPnP page on Pfsense (most likely port 3074)
8.  Perform a Xbox Live NAT test and see if it registers as open.
9.  Power on second Xbox 360, sign in to Xbox Live and verify that it has an entry in the uPnP status page listed above(maybe port 38169. 20917 or 15331).
10.  Perform a Xbox Live NAT test on both and see if they register as open.
11.  If you’d like an almost static IP address for your Xbox, maybe try a DHCP reservations

I have 8 Xbox 360s registering as open at my house behind PFsense 1.2.1 RC2 so what you’re trying to accomplish is definitely possible.

1. What you Need

Ok before we go any farther you need to have all of the following things handy, or get them.

1. Your Routers Username and Password (Most are admin and admin)

2. Your xbox’s IP. (Get it from dashboard under network settings.)

3. Your Routers address(usually 192.168.1.1) Look below for how to get it just to double check it

NAT – Network Adress Translation

DMZ – De-Militarized Zone – The zone not affected by the router

uPnP – Universal Plug-In-Play

3. Router IP Address

HOW TO GET YOUR ROUTERS IP ADDRESS ——- VERY IMPORTANT

Start——> Run

Type in cmd

Click Ok

in the command prompt type ipconfig

The Default Gateway is your Router’s IP Address

4. uPnP

For Routers that have UPnP capabilities, this the only option you will need. With that being said do the following:

1. Set your Xbox 360’s IP To Automatic

2. Disable DMZ

3. Remove Port Forwarding Entries.

4. ENABLE UPnP

5. DMZ

Step-by-Step Instructions If you don’t have uPnP.

1. Login in to your router site.

2. Find your DMZ settings

3. There should be a local and a public setting.

4. Type your xbox’s IP into the local DMZ host IP box.

5. Hit Apply or Accept or w/e.

6. Restart your xbox up and go to the dashboard and test your xbox live connection.

7. You should have OPEN NAT now.

Additionally set 1 xbox up for port forwarding and 1 xbox up for DMZ.

8. Dorms and Universities

Many colleges have their internet setup so only “computer connections” can go thru and use their internet.

The only way to get past this with an xbox is “bridge”()no not cheat lol) your connection thru your computer so it looks like a computer connection and not an xbox.

      Oh don’t thank me, I only put the bait on the hook, Mike caught the fish, gutted it and presented it at dinner. Great information Mike and very very useful even for those with a single Xbox, this is a game changer online if your on multiple boxes or single, everyone check it out and update so you have the best experience possible.
