Fixing Windows 10 Boot Error 0xc00000f

May 6, 2017

This is an emergency post. My main computer was down all winter because the boot file for Windows 10 got corrupted somehow (error code 0xc00000f) and after several repair tries using a System Repair disc that I made, I finally gave up and set it aside until the weather got warmer (and I had more patience to try again). Following the steps from this article via the comments from this YouTube, I was able to fix it in just a few minutes. First, however, you need an appropriate System Repair disc because it will require using Command Prompt from the disc. Those are easy to make from any Windows 10 machine (just make sure you match the bit, 32 or 64 – my machines are all 64bit). Anyway, this had to be written somewhere, even just for my own reference. Absolutely unconscionable that Microsoft doesn’t provide that info on their official help forums/sites.
