The Division “Yesterday” commercial

February 16, 2016

The open beta is available to d/l off of the XBL dashboard now. Access begins this Thursday, Feb. 18th for XB1 & Friday, Feb. 19th for the PC & PS4. The beta ends on Sunday, Feb. 21st.

BTW: Major Nelson finally confirmed that the exclusivity window for DLC will be thirty days even if gamers purchased the Season Pass on other platforms. MS locked down the timed exclusivity with Ubisoft early on in the game’s development when it was initially confirmed by Ryan Barnard, TD’s lead game director, at E3 2014.

No expense spared in the ad campaign. Also, for any who might not have known what the game was about, this is an excellent primer. It is basically the entire story and set up for who the gamer becomes when he plays. Very smart. (Don’t know how I feel about the CGI though, a mix of uncanny valley and dashed expectations regarding “pretty”.)

Yeah, that’s the thing about CGI commercials. Every game commercial markets their game using that as a representation of their game. Only grandmothers and the general public who know nothing about video games think that what they’re seeing is what the game will actually look like.

One of the smartest decisions Microsoft made when they launched the original Xbox was making and obeying their rule to show nothing but in-game footage. I respected them considerably for that single move. Sony was pumping out all sorts of garbage for all of their games, and Microsoft was all about “what you see is what you get”. By the end of the previous generation, that rule kind of got lost. Too bad.

OT What the heck? Are the Clippers seriously considering trading Griffin? They have almost no chance at a title this year with him, how much less without him. Really, what are you going to do as a player/coach/manager/owner when you live in an era with a team like the 90s Bulls or the current Warriors. The Spurs were the only team that looked like they might stop the Warriors and they got absolutely blown out like it was some practice B team scrimmage, same with the Cavaliers. The better the team, the harder the Warriors play, and the greater the spread they win by. That is any other teams’ nightmare.

Edit: In some of the articles out there, someone mentions Chris Bosh. I know how much Kenny likes him, so I would be laughing if it happened. LOL

According to Doc Rivers and Steve Ballmer, Blake is staying as a Clipper. Analysts have been spreading the trade rumors because the Clippers are winning without him because they’re finally finding out everyone’s role. Rivers isn’t completely squashing these rumors because he wants Blake to play with a vengeance when he returns to prove a point. Also, he still has one more year left on his contract. Although it’s true that the offensive tempo does slow down when he’s on the court, it’s because he passes up shots that he should be taking. CP3 is very critical when Blake does that. He wants Blake to hit those mid-range jumpers because he’s improved it dramatically in the past two seasons. It pains me that the Clippers aren’t going to be contenders for the title this season, but then again; the Warriors look ridiculously unbeatable. Their team chemistry is something to be marveled and envious of. I still feel that the only team that could have beaten the Warriors last season was the Clippers. However, that was last year & we all know what happened when they self-destructed against the garbage Rockets.

Get a load of this crap! Jordan told Klay Thompson at the All-Star game that he gives his blessing to beat his Bulls’ record. Like they need his damn permission to crush that winning record. The fricking nerve of that dude! GTFOOHWTBS!

As in regards to Chris Bosh, the guy is done. He had to bow out of the All-Star game because he had a blood clot in his calf. If he needs to go on blood thinners again, he’s finished in the league. Shaq hit the nail on the head when he called it 2-1/2 men when Lebron, Wade, and Bosh were playing together in Miami. Bosh is bootleg. I can’t believe Pat Riley hamstrung the Heat with Bosh’s ridiculous contract.

I think it’s legit to trade Griffin. Clippers do play better basketball without him.

They are sort of stuck with him. He is not a consistent mvp caliber player. He doesn’t stay healthy.

His above the rim play is not going to last forever, and he certainly hasn’t developed his skill set enough to prepare for the future. Plus the west is loaded with either teams with enough size like Spurs or enough Shooting like Golden State or Bonafide MVPs like the Thunder.

I would trade him and Lance in return of 2-3 quality players that can run the system.

As for Bosh. He was a third wheel on his first two years in Miami, but that third year he was very key in their run as well as the fourth. When Lebron left he was the one that carried the Heat for a while.

Obviously that didn’t last, however his style of play and skill set does have more longevity than Griffin. Also because he learned how to play with fewer touches (Unlike Kevin Love). He can fit nicely in almost any system.

Pat knew this that’s why he gave him that contract. It wasn’t so much about what he does for the Heat, but he knew if Bosh left for any team it isntantly become a contender like it was rumored to be the Rockets.

He had to save face and like the Mavs did with Wesley, overpay him for staying.

Ill tell you this. Blake without Doc and Chris Paul, will not have the same numbers. Even more when he gets older and can’t high fly anymore.

Warriors, Spurs and Thunder are really good teams. If the Clippers lose is not going to be on Paul or Doc, it will be about Blake, and Steve Ballmer knows this.

Is either trade the guy while he can still jump or wait until his value decreases further after he gets older or gets injured.

Rocket League is live now! (Tuesday) Dino turds! Bwahaha!!!

      LMAO@Dino turds

As for Rocket League, let me know if gamers can choose servers or if it is “automatic” hosting. The latter will be a no go. EA games are completely off the list now unless it is confirmed that like BF4, I can choose the server. Even if its servers are ok, it may take some persuading of Cornie. He has his dollars set on The Division. And all his time is spent supervising and handling my turd collection, and he likes shooters better than sports games.

And agreed about Bosh and Jordan.

Rocket League has servers in every region, especially Southeast Asia & Asia-Mainland. That means you & Cornie do not need to piggyback off of us to find games! You can select whatever server region that you want. Rocket League is addicting. rED & I started off by playing bots on the ‘Rookie’ difficulty & quickly upgraded to the ‘Pro’ difficulty after we got the hang of the game. Zos and Stephy joined us a bit later & we were hooting & hollering.

Everyone here knows that I hate soccer and racing cars, but this is different. I can’t fully explain how fun it is, you just have to play it to understand. The teamwork to set up shots for your teammates, scoring, & defending the goal is outstanding. The game is so simplistic, yet it’s so engaging & intense. The unlockables keep you coming back for more & the game rewards you points for assists, saves, shots on goal, clearing shots, centering the ball, & of course- scoring goals. If you guys are hesitant about the game, watch some of the game clips that Zos & rED have captured on XBL. It’s a great change of pace when we need a break from Ark or The Division. Now I understand why the PC & PS4 platforms were going nuts over Rocket League.

Great news about the servers. I will present it to Cornie. It is hard to imagine the fun, except that I know 4GN has had many awesome gaming sessions playing Rayman Legends Soccer. As I was saying to rED, sometimes simplistic game mechanics make for the most exciting games.

EDIT: By the way, thanks for coming back to write it up!

It’s too bad they didn’t utilize a “trial” feature with this game. Some of the most fun I can remember having in a game! It was surprising how intuitive the controls were, but we are just at the tip of the iceberg. Easy to learn, hard to master.

    • February 17, 2016 3:42 pm

      Hardly any trials/demos. Next gen.

Beta comments: Could not choose my previous Beta character, so I ended up starting it for a third time with a new character.

Only obvious improvement that I noticed was interacting with objects (especially loot crates.) It was a bit janky in the closed beta, but now it is very smooth.

Look at the Blankman go! The underground looks very pretty!

And here is something that I vaguely recall looking at 19 years ago. Fascinating.
