And with that, they enter the record books

Breaking a record held since the 1948/49 season is special considering both the quality of teams that have come and gone in that time, and the caliber of the teams at this time, especially in the west. I find GSW particularly enjoyable to watch because they really do play as a team.  I never played team sports as a kid (hated letting others down), but I have had a chance to experience a plan coming together thanks to video games and our motley crew here.  Getting the win because we were well coordinated and selfless is always more enjoyable than when we win because we have a superstar on the team.  Anyway, regardless of who’s who or which teams are our favorites, there is no denying the Golden State Warriors are in the zone right now.  Congrats to them and all their fans.

Editor’s note:  At times like these, I wish I had the tools to move the OT conversation we had in a previous post, under this one.  Hit that link for vids, articles, and our discussion before the record was broken.

NBA just put up a great highlight reel of some of the best passing plays of the year so far. Very short and sweet.

What happens first? Warriors lose, or Sixers win?

Crazy, isn’t it? Frenik has some interesting theories on some of the losing-est teams in the league.

On a different note, apparently the NBA is thinking about who should get the credit for this win streak, Kerr or Walton. The New York Times has an interesting article presenting some of the reasons in the debate. (And I just talked with Kenny some more and he mentioned Jerry West as the architect of the team.)

Though Kerr deserves the credit (which he has gracefully deferred to one of his assistants) for the “Finals Five” all-small line-up, Kenny pointed out a while back that even Kerr was handed the team which went all the way, by Mark Jackson. It would sure be cool if his name was mentioned every once in a while, as Dungy‘s is when talking about the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Warrior lose. Sixers will probably not win and break the record.

Speaking of which the Sixers Tanking method has backfired as their top prospect is linked to brawls and speeding tickets. Not the kind of guy that will sell jerseys.
