LevelCap provides a pretty good overview of the game. Feel free to mute him and just watch the footage which includes all the Heroes/Villains and all? of the maps (before the $50 DLC).

Has Zos caved yet and pre-ordered? Did anyone watch that footage above?

I’ll likely cave, but i wont even have time to play anything until the end of the month ;(. Plus I am waiting to see the reviews and how the launch goes.

I recommend that we don’t purchase it right away until they squash bugs because everyone knows that DICE always has a ton of them at launch. When things stabilize, we can jump on.

BTW: Stop influencing Zos, Suns. You just want the go ahead to take the leap yourself. Ha! 😉

    Replying to your comments above.

LOL You aren’t entirely wrong. If the “Season’s Pass” were even just half its current price, I would probably have already pre-ordered it. My friend Mark here wants me to stream it!! He is looking forward to that more than the new movie!

Having admitted that, I really, REALLY hate encouraging EA in their DLC bullshit, especially since it splits communities, AND, I hate the idea of paying $150CND dollars for the game, especially since forking that kind of money out still won’t let me play with all 3GN (even if they were playing). Again, if you and Zos refrain, I will most definitely refrain (and buy it when the whole thing is 60 bucks).

Why don’t we promise each other to at least wait until after The Division Beta. Then, we can make an educated decision at a time when we will have actual holidays to play it!

On the near horizon, Jessica Jones and The Division Beta. Also, for me though not for most, Gears is back on the menu, and seeing all this Tomb Raider love has me wanting to go back and finish that game.

Wait, you haven’t finished the Tomb Raider reboot yet? (shakes head in disappointment)

My brother will probably buy it on launch. If not, I will very shortly thereafter. Too many people I know and play with are into it, including my son. Suns, that shouldn’t affect your pact to wait. Our schedules rarely line up, and you can always watch my clips.

  4. November 10, 2015 9:45 am

I will be buying it at launch / pre-order. I will not be buying the Season pass (at least not up front).

I don’t really have any other games right now that scratch my multiplayer itch other then Battlefield 4 (by the way, the new map is too much fun).

Halo 5 will be a “every now and then”.

Gears will only be a “when EVERYONE is playing it”.

Destiny – I gave up on it. The new DLC sent me back to the stone age as far as leveling goes and I don’t have the desire to grind it out again, just to get (back) to a point where I can actually going on Raids again…

Holding off on Star Wars to get to a price drop is going to be a year of waiting. Wait if you want, but I don’t think the price is gonna drop in 6 or even 9 months. (This isn’t Titanfall), this is Dice. And yes they did drop the price on Hardline, but I don’t think they will on Battlefront.

Personally, I could pass on Star Wars and play Battlefield 4 if everyone got it. I have plenty of fun as it is with Herandar and Lab Rat.

Question: With 360 Backwards compatibility, is either Left 4 Dead or Bad Company 2 on the horizon?

  5. November 10, 2015 10:00 am

“you can always watch my clips” Herandar

“I will not be buying the Season pass” Kenai

LMAO at you guys! Bwahahahahahaha!!!! OH, I am killin’ myself laughing here!!!

Haven’t heard anything about either of those games. L4D in particular, would be very cool. BF:BC2, is better on paper than in reality. Went back to it after BF3 came out, and the maps are unparalled, but the there were so many problems (that were fixed in BF3) that it was a “never again” experience.

And this is very old and very OT, but still funny. #didn’tloseby50 Love the comments by the other players:

Tony Allen: “You ever seen the movie ‘White Men Can’t Jump’? It’s like those brothers would rather look good in a loss than look bad in a win. Whoever is in charge of their Twitter should be fired. I’ve never seen anybody broadcast losing. Who’s proud of losing — whether it’s by one, two, three or 50? Enough said.”

Have the game pre-ordered, but I’m starting Fallout 4 later today, and Black Ops 3 has been completely consuming my gaming time since release. I’ll let Battlefront sit on my dashboard until, like you guys are saying, the bugs are fixed and to see how the game is at launch.

Glad I could entertain, Suns. I was thinking about BFBC2 a lot when they announced 360 BC, but I don’t see it happening. According to BFBCS.com as of the time I’m writing this, there are 283 PC servers, 185 PS3 servers, and 0 360 servers. I can’t remember the last time that there were 360 servers. I can’t imagine EA will spend money on servers now to facilitate FPS nostalgia. Unless the next game after SW:B is BFBC3, in which case I could see them make a splash about it being a 360 BC game as a marketing ploy.

OT: I’ve hinted here before about my all-time favorite television show. (“Cabot, Cabot!”) Well, today had a huge ambitious announcement: #BringBackMST3K It will be the first time I ever back a Kickstarter project, at the very least. And while I’m sharing my interests, if you guys could give some views to Agonywolf Media I’d be really grateful. Just some people that started a riffing show that is not only funny, but distinct and with terrific production values. They are criminally under-watched on YouTube. The link above is to a playlist of them playing through the Resident Evil remaster.

AWESOME about MST3k!!! I will check out the other youtube page as well.

Thank you for the heads-up, Herandar. Both are new to me.

General consensus so far appears to be: low on content, high on nostalgia.

My main concerns were how much content we were going to get with the game, and beyond filler modes, the MP feels somewhat empty, AND no SP content.

This, plus the already announced season pass for the cost of an additional game is pretty upsetting and not surprising.

That being said, the game was fun and looks/sounds amazing. So i’ll prob pick up. No rush for me though.

Probably spent more time debating this thing in my head than I should. A couple of things have changed since I last wrote:

    1. Halo 5 MP is utterly useless for Cornie (and I don’t even own it). The servers will not put him in a match if he is by himself (tried again yesterday) and when playing with Johann (again yesterday) the lag for both of them was awful, in several rounds. Cornie said that the experience he had was much like that of the MCC, but now he realizes it wasn’t the MCC that was broken, but either server selection issues/matchmaking or the net code that 343 is using. Either way, the result is the same. Impossible to play alone, and horrible experience playing with others. Johann, on the other hand, when playing without Cornie has a pretty solid experience and loves the gameplay, so he is keepin’ his Christmas present.

    2. Johann and Cornie want to get SW:Battlefront. Neither of them are interested in The Division, and both of them are happy waiting for PvZ:GW2 until it comes down in price. “Halo 5, Destiny, and Battlefront will hold them until next fall.” The way they play, I believe them.

    3. Kenai’s point about the price not coming down is probably true. I do believe that they will be selling some all-inclusive package by Fall next year for the price of only the game now, but by that time, I will have spent a lot of time sitting on my hands in party chat.

    4. As far as I can tell, there is no significant advantage to pre-ordering. So, I am still interested in waiting until after launch to buy it. But, since all y’all are jumpin’ in, I certainly am not going to be standing on the shore shivering, watching you whoopin’ it up in the lake! If we get some “reviews” before the launch, then based on those, I might find myself pre-downloading. We’ll see.

    • November 12, 2015 6:34 pm

That is too bad to hear about Halo 5. So frustrating that this is the case. My best guess is that they have just given up in Japan.

Halo 5 was the biggest launch of a Halo game for Microsoft, yet they sold less copies in Japan than any other Halo before it (including 4, reach etc). As far as I know, Halo 5 runs on the same servers as Gears UE, so I am not sure why the experience would differ so greatly.

    • November 12, 2015 7:57 pm

Zos, I don’t think you have played Gears as regularly as I have. While the last two weeks have been better again, there was about 4 weeks in the middle where things were so bad I had to stop playing. I believed at the time it was due to a lack of people playing, and therefore we might well have been getting servers outside the region selected (maybe even Europe). At the least, there were others in the room that were not from the west coast. On one occasion, it felt like I was hosting. Everything gibbed or went down. That showed me what some of the other players who were getting 40+ kills a match were experiencing in all the other games. I think they were literally rotating servers.

As regards Japan, in all consoles/PC gaming, it is really no more relevant anymore, than any “modern” country in say, Africa. I suspect the number of sold Ones here still hasn’t broken a thousand (and not tons more for the PS4). That shouldn’t mean that we can’t join a NA server if we choose it.

And getting back to your question, with Halo, we can’t select our servers. I suspect when 343 gets a group of mixed connections, it matches them with another group of mixed connections. And in the other cases, it simply shuts the individuals right out. It is utter rubbish for their flagship game. I wanted the boys to ask for a refund but Johann said it was his birthday present and he could play in good conditions when he didn’t join us in Japan.

    • November 12, 2015 9:32 pm

I totally agree, that exclusion of region selection is strange and disappointing.

No matter how I feel about DICE & would rather wait due to the bare bones offering; I’m going to be dragged kicking & screaming due to Zos’ love of Star Wars. I guess that I’m just along for the ride.

I strongly suggest that we show some spending restraint because publishers have got to get it through their damn heads that gamers demand more, not less. It’s just a shame that the SW fans will buy this game without hesitation. That “season pass” is straight bullshit & should be in the game proper. Frickin’ EA…
