I’m excited to play Halo 5’s campaign. I’m terrible at the MP versus, but the story seems like it’ll deliver. The updated Halo 4 engine by Corrine Yu seems to be holding its own in the now-gen graphics.

If you have a chance to read the article on the Level Progression, it discusses the Warzone stuff specifically. Of course, in any battle, whether it is against humans or AI, the skillful gamers are going to achieve more than the less skilled gamers. However, they are definitely trying to make it fun for everyone. Taking down a legendary Boss is worth killing 25 gamer played spartans. There are points for everything. As the writer concluded his article, it is going to be interesting to see the various strategies that people use to ensure their victory. But yes, as much as I think Halo MPvs is a slick beast, I cannot win at it. The odds are far worse than Vegas for me, and that just isn’t pleasurable.

So does that mean this is another SP-Coop and done game?

I thought the MP was a draw with all the new abilities. Or was it just for Cornie, Johan, Zos,Grym?

C’mon you guys used to play MP games!

      Two things. πŸ˜‰

We have been playing GoW MPvs every single day for the past 3 weeks. Where have you been? You used to buy and play MP games, too! In fact, before GoW:UE, we were playing PvZ:GW almost daily for months. In very rare form, you didn’t get into that one either.

Second, if you got owned as badly as I do – my K/D is never above 0.62 even in BF:BC2 – I can almost guarantee you would have quit the hobby altogether. All you guys that play 0.9 and higher, as soon as you die twice in a row, the whole world knows about it. My *average* is to die twice in a row! I get death streaks, like massive ones! Five, six, ten in a row! It ain’t fun.

I am weak sauce in these games, and it is only my crushing love for Gears and the brilliant comedic gameplay of PvZ:GW, that keeps me coming back to those.

So, yes, anticipation of being owned is tempering my enthusiasm for Arena Halo, as S.W.E.E.T. as it looks.

You are right. Two things. Two games. That’s my point πŸ˜€

As for the k/d that’s baloney. You played Gears 1 with host advantage for years, you played TF2 with huge rubberbanding lag. You played Left 4 Dead 1&2 with lag, against cheese tactics and hardcore groups. You played BC2, got to a higher rank than me and unlocked everything. You played Halo:Reach BTB. You played CoD4.

L4D has almost nothing to do with killing and almost everything to do with the team awareness/proximity mechanic. I have exceptional team awareness and pretty good communication skills – that is how from day one, I contributed in L4D (and thus had a good time), and in Gears (which I just said, I am still playing).

BC2 is BF for noobs. It gives points for almost anything, and especially for playing the objective. Most of my points were from reviving teammates so *they* could kill the enemy, arming MCOMS, planting mines all over the place, and throwing smoke so that we could sneak in. Also, because the movement options were greatly restricted (thus favoring noobs), I was actually able to win some skirmishes as well. I experienced success and that is why I played it!

(Not so with BF3 – I couldn’t play that game without my ringers because I could never hold my own. Always had to play with Johann and Cornie, in which case, I really enjoyed myself. BF4 is a disaster for me, and after playing Johann’s copy, I decided not to buy it. The maps are made by artists, not level designers. And all I do is die, with the occasional points for healing a boat or something.)

TF2. I doubt I played that for more than 50 hours (I played Brink for 40, just for comparison). But if I did, like CoD4, that was about 8 years ago and games have evolved. I no longer have to play games based on the K/D mechanic. Gears and especially BC2 changed everything for me.

As for Halo:Reach and Halo 4, Kenny bought both of those for me, if I am not mistaken. And I love the MPvs, I just can’t play it well enough to actually have fun and want to continue. I really wish I could, but I no longer kid myself. I will try Halo 5 Arena, but after a short while of getting grossly dominated (and most likely, tea-bagged) I will probably call it quits. I am hopeful that Warzone will work better for me, but I suspect even that is going to still be for those who can get four headshot bursts in a row.

Just being realistic about it all, not pouting, angry, or trying to get attention. Just realistic.

In the meantime, I have already declared many times that I will be playing PvZ:GW2 MP like crazy when it comes out. And if Gears 4 is fun, probably that too. Just not MPvs that relies on getting more kills than deaths. I declared being done with all that when I started playing BC2.

That’s your posture at the moment. I was there the first time you tried the Gears beta and you almost talked yourself out of it too. Until you tried it. Blank was doing the same until you got onboard.

My point is you had way more against you before and it was easier for things to slide off.

Now that we are getting the top notch games. Dedicated Servers. Blazing fast internet connections.

Can it really be more difficult to enjoy?

I mean granted this is a game you are buying, a game you are writing about. I just assumed you were in at the very least on Warzone. But now it’s like maybe. 😳

Heh, I finally brought my BF4 K/D up over .7 in May. Sitting at .727 now. (8,230 kills, 11,315 deaths) I won’t be getting Halo. Gears Ultimate was my sole step out of my comfort zone for this year.

Understood, Herandar. And congrats on always doing so well in BF4.

Hey, are we on for PvZ:GW2?

Even though I underplayed the first game, yes. My son is dying to be a part of an online scene, and have gaming friends that aren’t his friends from school. I’m comfortable with him playing PvZ whereas he hasn’t even seen one screen of GoW. If he gets his schoolwork in order, he’ll be playing GW2.

Herandar, that sounds great! I have been wanting to change my language habits for a while now, and will do all that I can to ensure he can even use a headset when we play together. LOL GW2 is gonna be all that. Because how could it not? It is plants and zombies for crying out loud!
