Netflix: Narcos

July 16, 2015

August 28th. It is going up against Gears of War:UE that weekend, so it has its work cut out for it. 😉

Netflix is really standing tall and going head-to-head with its cable competition. People signed up for Netflix because of the movies and full tv series, but it is quickly, legitimately becoming a service to sign up for just for its original content.

I have a bit of a love hate with this show. I love how the story is presented so far, and it should be a great season (i’m half way).

However, this is clearly a show aimed at English speaking audiences even though most of it is in Spanish.

Here’s the thing the lead actor’s native tongue is portuguese. There’s a wide variety of accents in the supporting cast which is hilarious for me because it jumps from puertorrican, mexican, colombian, etc.

The other thing is known actors act very natural in their dialogue, then others speak very “telenovelas”-like.

That really bothers me because well “narcos” wouldn’t talk like that.

I am having a hard time getting used to that, but otherwise it’s a good quality show.

Thanks for the mini-review, Frenik. I know exactly what you are saying because the same happens to me whenever Japanese language or culture is presented in NA media. For me, the accents and dialects in Narco will all go over my head, so I am lucky! LOL
