Destiny

Johann showed me this video today and I contemplated just adding it to the E3 thread under comments by Blankman and Frenik, but then thought maybe we need a Destiny stand-alone post. The footage above (by LevelCap, like ArcTic, a trustworthy BF/FPS hardcore gamer) looks better than the stuff I have seen in the past, and I think for people who like Halo, this is close to a dream come true. Watching it, you will recognize the assets imported from Halo into this game, even if they have a different skin (e.g., the not-a-ghost). I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this took some of the Stranded by the short hairs and held them tight for a while. LevelCap says it’s Halo and Diablo 3. 4GN thinks its the love child of Halo and ME3. Cheers!

lol. Are you going to pre-order for the beta code?

My next game is Evolve, but for those who liked Halo I can see them all over this. I can also see certain personality types getting hooked on this even if they didn’t like it all that much. 😉

Oh heck no! Destiny is the furthest thing from my wishlist ever since Bungie announced it. I don’t think Activision will ever recoup their investment.

Just played the Alpha of Destiny for an hour and a half-ish, and its VERY similar to Halo. But thats to be expected since its Bungie. It feels very promising, because even in its Alpha stage, the game is extremely polished, fluid, and fun. The game looks great, guns are fun to use, and most importantly.. the AI is damn good most of the time. I ended up doing a Public Event with one other guy where we had to activate this big half-globe looking thing while enemies swarmed us from all directions.

Long story short, when we were working together and attacking the higher leveled enemies with shields and whatnot, we did great. The minute we split up, the AI swarmed both of us one after the other, killing us both in a matter of seconds. Hopefully with the beta they include more main missions because after the introduction mission that has a sort of mini-boss at the end, you basically just drive around on your hover-bike thing (forget the name) and do side missions.

Overall, it seems like it will end up being a good game, but nothing that will keep my attention for very long. Theres just something about Bungie games… the longevity just isnt there for me. They better use the $500 mill they spent on this game wisely. The most expensive game ever made should definitely not disappoint.
