November 11 – Halo Master Chief Collection Halo 1-4 (not including Reach) – all games on the One.

    Lots of timed exclusives!

Fortunately, the show is all about the games. I don’t think they have mentioned “TV” or “Xbox Features” once.

Phantom Dust, Scalebound – Japanese anime RPGs? I can see the Japanese manga/anime/cosplay crowd excited about these two.

So pumped for the new Crackdown! The Division, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 2 Anniversary.. too many games that need to be pre-ordered!

  3. June 9, 2014 2:25 pm

Awesome compilation, Suns. Thanks for taking the time for that. In case anyone missed it, the Achievements app is going to get an update (not sure when exactly) which will allow you to snap it, live tracking of cheevo progress, rearrange the list how you like, and you can pin achievements you want to track.

I’m going to be watching the EA conference for Mirror’s Edge 2 and NHL 15. I’ll post some notable trailers I see while watching.

Here’s an NHL 15 trailer that was released earlier today:

    • June 9, 2014 2:34 pm

Grymmie, where are you watching this stuff. I sent you a Party Invite but you didn’t jump in. (Same for Zos) It shows you guys both watching.

Anyway, yes, please embed EA and Ubisoft vids as they come up. I think I am going to go back to bed for a bit. And congrats on NHL 15! Looks awesome!

IGN got hands-on with the new monster in Evolve and LOVED it.

The Evolve beta is an XB1 exclusive & the DLC will be a timed exclusive. As far as I’m concerned, PS4 can have the BF: Hardline beta even though it looks pretty darn impressive.

BTW: That Cthulu/Kraken monster reveal in Evolve was sweet!

    • June 9, 2014 9:54 pm

Hey, if that Hardline beta was available today, 3/4GN would be all over it. However, I have spent plenty of time in broke-ass Frostbite demos, and without even a hint of sour grapes, I don’t mind either, that we can’t play it.

Evolve is looking more badass every time it gets shown.

    • June 10, 2014 1:40 pm

      Evolve looks amazing.

  5. June 9, 2014 3:06 pm

EA’s show looks to be great! (I didn’t make it back into bed – lol)

BF Hardline HUD is almost exactly the same as it is in BF4. The audio bytes are different though – “Don’t tase me bro” “That’s what you git!”. If they provide the same number of sound bytes as the did in the BF games, it could be quite funny. Definitely a re-skin, but the atmosphere is different enough that it could be fun.

Beta today, right now, on PC and PS4.

Game Informer and Opposable Thumbs hands-on Hardline.

The Ubisoft Presentation has new non-gameplay footage of The Division (to be embedded as soon as a YouTube copy can be found), and they spent about 20 minutes on AC:Unity. What was that all about?!

Ok, I found it and have embedded it into the post proper, and now here again. The Cinematic Trailer.

The reasons why Ubisoft spent twenty minutes on AC: Unity are: #1. It’s bad ass; #2. It’s coming out this October; #3. Four player co-op campaign. The game had me sold when I watched it on the Xbox E3 Media Event. I was telling the guys that “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.” Ubisoft can just take my money. Seriously, day one purchase was practically unanimous for Zos, Grymmie, & myself (rED was still on the fence).

As in regards to The Division, they really didn’t show anything “new” about the game. It was just more scripted gameplay according to Zos, and I have to agree. It was reassuring to see that the visuals will be awesome on the XB1. I guess that’s what we can take away from what was shown by Massive.

Did anyone catch the Rainbow Six: Siege? Now that is what I want in respect to SWAT-oriented play. I prefer this game to the BF: Hardline’s Michael Bay-esque chaos despite the fact that the players purposely missed the tangos to ramp up the gunplay & environmental destruction. The reboot really brings me back to the Rainbow Six/Swat 3 & 4 PC days of old.

    • June 10, 2014 3:16 pm

While watching that reveal, I was a little put back. The game looks amazing and ambitious, but I just don’t really see the final product having that type of feel while playing it. I’ll go into more details in party chat.

Honestly, I think the Haylow collection won the show for me. The more I think about what is actually included brings me back to my early, squeely tween years, and I couldn’t be more fucking giddy. Some clips and screenshots of the upgraded graphics below.

Image gallery of improved Haylow 2 graphics.

    • June 10, 2014 2:04 am

Negative, negative. Flight pattern is full. BF Hardline is in a go around and Evolve has been cleared for landing. It is approaching the runway now. 😉

(For Halo fans, it couldn’t be better. With the exception of Halo 4, I disliked all the Halo campaigns, and I was so detrimental to my team in any form of MP that I turned to Gears. Seriously, it was my dislike of Halo MP that made me learn how to use the shotgun and got my on my path that led me to you guys. Like the Unsullied, I will not look upon my early days as the good days. These are the good days, when twitch skills aren’t the only thing that will help your team.)

But, Grymmie, I am very happy for you! With dedicated servers, Halo 2 et al will never have played better!

    • June 10, 2014 3:12 pm

OMG SUNS!!! LAST WEEK’S EPISODE WAS SO FULL OF FEELS!!!

  9. June 10, 2014 1:17 pm

Shockingly, The Division was my biggest disappointment from E3. The game looks amazing running on Xbox One, but they gave us practically no new content. What we know now : the game looks beautiful, there are guns, and a cover mechanic. No mention of any mechanics beyond Co-op against bots. I went into the show, very excited to hear about this game, and was left with the same.

I understand that it is an ambitious title, but more time than not, overly ambitious titles tend to fail to meet their expectations (that they create themselves). The game is very pretty, but by the time they damn thing ships, everyone else may have already “caught up”.

    • June 10, 2014 1:38 pm

There is a lot to talk about, look forward to party chat :). PS: The new Zelda looks insane.

  10. June 10, 2014 3:46 pm

On my lunch break at work, went through multiple “game collection” lists. So far, here are the exclusives we know about for PS4 and Xbox One since the conferences:

    PS4:

    Abzu
    BloodBorne
    Deep Down
    Entwined*
    Grim Fandango Remastered*
    Let It Die
    LittleBigPlanet3
    Natural Doctrine*
    The Order: 1886*
    Ratchet And Clank Remastered
    Uncharted4

    Xbox One:

    Below
    Crackdown
    Fable Legends
    Forza Horizon 2
    Gears of War 4
    Halo 5 Guardians
    Halo: The Master Chief Collection
    Inside
    Killer Instinct Season 2
    Quantum Break
    Shape Up
    Sunset Overdrive

My preferences definitely lean to the Microsoft Side of things. Sony’s exclusives that I am really jealous of are BloodBorne and Uncharted 4. Could care less about the rest. On the Microsoft end of things, I plan on buying the majority.

  11. June 10, 2014 11:23 pm

Thanks for bringing some of the discussion in here. I miss the party chats and by the time the weekend comes, everyone will have worked out all the finer details of their impressions and moved on.

Also, thanks for the Rainbow Six vid and the games by platform lists. Very helpful.

I am actually quite surprised how long it is taking the devs to make content for the new consoles. Surely they have had an idea about the specs and capabilities of these almost identical architectures (which are almost identical to the PC). Are the game just that much bigger and resource intensive? Whereas it took a year after launch to see GoW and other true next gen games, this time it is looking to be at least 18 months after launch for most. Not a complaint, just an observation.

Um, your observations must not be very keen, Suns. Eighteen months before we see true next gen games? I’m not sure if you’re being serious. At the launch of the XB1, we saw Forza 5 & Ryse as true next-gen games which according to my math is day one. NHL 15 & UFC ’14 are both due out in September. This October we will see four new (next) gen games alone in Evolve, AC: Unity, Sunset Overdrive, & BF: Hardline. Those games will NOT be available for the past gen consoles with the exception of Hardline.

    • June 11, 2014 5:26 am

You’re right. Last gen, I didn’t buy a 360 until a month or so before the launch of Gears, so I wasn’t nearly as impatient during the waits or delays. I stand corrected and glad to be so.

Zos, rED, Grymmie, & me were discussing what games shown at this year’s E3 pitched our tents. Zos & I agreed that Batman: AK & AC: Unity took top honors. Outside of NHL 15, Grymmie really dug what the Unity game showed. What about everyone else?

BTW: Unity will only have multiplayer co-op, adversarial mode will not be showing up in this game (probably because they broke the darn game concept when they allowed players to use eagle vision).

P.S.: Gameinformer’s article about Unity is a must read, especially on the section of co-op play. http://www.gameinformer.com/games/assassins_creed_unity/b/xboxone/archive/2014/06/11/ten-things-you-need-to-know-about-assassin-s-creed-unity.aspx

Dissapointing, and I could swear Ubisoft stated otherwise. Regardless, still a large amount of content “On Disc”.

Off topic, has anyone seen the “in-engine” Starwars footage? Rediculous. No way the consoles will put out that fidelity, but even at a reduced quality (BF4+), this is going to look incredible.

Agreed on Unity. I thought the devs that demoed it at the MS E3 press event said something about the entire campaign could be played cooperatively. Regardless, it still a must buy.

  13. June 11, 2014 7:12 pm

Full map list for Haylow: MCC. Great to see some of the greats from Haylow 1 (Boarding Action/Sidewinder) getting the love they deserve for MP. Oh, and LOCKOUT y MIDSHIP MUHFUCKAS!!!

Check out this ID@Xbox game that was showcased in the indie games portion of the E3 presser called White Night. It’s an homage to the game, Alone in the Dark, & it has a very noire design. You have to seek refuge in a creepy house & matches from a matchbox serve as both light source and ammunition against the darkness. The game is survival horror told in a narrative as you investigate the houses’s secret. The art style looks really interesting. This game is on my radar.

    • June 14, 2014 6:53 pm

Looks very interesting. I am a sucker for creative art design. Thanks for the heads-up, Kenny.
