Upcoming March Party & Friends Update

February 25, 2014

I’m impressed. Given, this should have been available from the start, but from the looks of it, long gone are the days of getting spammed invites to join your friends’ games without either consenting to said invite. Looking forward to previewing these features when the update goes live to those that were accepted by MS to beta test these features.

EDIT: Looks like it’s rumored Respawn is going to have Titanfall run at 1080p.

Hopefully this makes the Xbox UI somewhat usable. Definitely excited to try it. In terms of TitanFall, I doubt that they will run native 1080p after running between 720-800 this whole time. Most devs say the game “runs” at 1080p when referring to it being upscaled.

It was running about 900p. Alpha and beta may have been under due to it being pre-release.

Thanks for putting this up here, Grymmie. Three months is what it took to get the party chat system & invite features functional. Yeah right, we all know that it was Respawn’s Titanfall that got MS off their asses to fix their half-baked shit.

As far as the rumors on the pre-release TF patches to the two XB1 updates, I’ll be happy if it’s running at 900p. Regardless, the Beta running at 792p looked very nice. Gameplay is what matters, not this “resolution gate” B.S.

MS needs to finds other ways to differentiate the XB1 from the PS4 besides timed game & DLC exclusivities. The NFL Network app is already exclusive to the One, but that’s not necessarily geared for everyone’s taste. The expanded features of Twitch is a start which is also launching in time for Titanfall’s release. Isn’t it ridiculous how Titanfall has brought so many changes for the One? MS Azure cloud implementation (Respawn has been granted the ability to add updates to the servers in real-time), graphic upscaler improvements, wireless controller tweaking, and party chat & friend invites/notifications enhancements. Like I said before, that is power. To get a company to make improvements on such a wide scale is a testament to how much influence Respawn possesses. Simply amazing.

Twitch streamed sessions of Titanfall will sell consoles – when people start gettin’ their phantom/Dark Knight on, it will sell systems. Yes, Microsoft has to tap that because it should be on red frickin’ alert after the way they have squandered their technological and market share lead.

The OS update video shows only marginal improvements. Getting to friends lists and party lobbies still looks like turning an oil tanker in the ocean. It should have been the opposite. We should have come screaming out of the 360 into instantaneous access, with all sorts of new features we haven’t even thought of, on the One.

I don’t think that the negative impact of the Kinect can even be measured. With its issues of privacy and pricing, and therefore being the reason for “resolution gate”, AND the reason MS started all over again in their OS design, it is this generation’s RROD, perhaps even more negatively impactful.

As Kenny said above, MS really needs to start pimping their “difference”, and they really need to make that Kinect at least appear to have more value than a tampon! (a brick on a cord)

Way too early to tout MS’ FUBAR missteps as this generation’s RRoD, Suns. Stop with the hyperbole, brutha. There’s no need for Peter (Boy who Cried Wolf) or Chicken Little yet. Also, the Kinect doesn’t really pose a threat to privacy. No one wants to see your balls, Captain Morgan. LMAO And please for the love of all that’s holy, stop including the word privacy whenever the Kinect is mentioned. They’re not mutually exclusive to one another. I’m thanking you in advance, Onii-San. 🙂

The console’s only been out for three months. That’s nothing in the life cycle of these new consoles. The fact that Respawn has been able to get MS off their asses is a huge feat in itself. Only Sony fanboys are fanning the flames of resolution-gate. It’s utter bullsh!t because you can’t see a visual difference between 720p from 1080p until you exceed 50-inches on HDTVs.

Sites and forums such as N4G and Evil Avatar are rank with Sony fanbois constantly reiterating the same slams over and over. These idiots sound like a broken record. I can picture these clowns hopping up on their feet with their hands in the air yelling, “Amen! Hallelujah!” Ridiculous. Everyone already knew that N4G was a Sony haven so that was no big surprise. However, it’s fricking sickening how bias EvAv has become. They’re terrible places to venture for info or opinions. I now avoid those sites like the damn plague. Don’t let those jokers influence you, Mike. The game’s just getting started. This year’s E3 will be a true litmus test on where the One will be heading. Somehow, the story about the “Tortoise and the Hare” from Aesop’s Fables comes to mind.

Love your positive attitude, Blank. I don’t ever visit N4G, and I am all but ready to give up looking at the comments at EvAv. I just love their no nonsense front page news updates. Light and succinct.

EDIT: As regards EvAv, I just took it out of the most visited links section, because there is so much hate going on over there, not just Sony fanboi hate, either. Also, I wrote a long reply to your comment, but it is stuff that should be said in party chat.

And Grymmie, don’t let the resolution thing get to you. The Xbox One loses that battle and it won’t win for the entirety of this generation. However, it only matters if it matters to you. It doesn’t to me. I just want to be sure that the games I want to play are available on the system I own where all my friends are, and that the games aren’t grossly gimped in looks or content.

EDIT 2: Game Informer which is fast taking the place of EvAv and other sites, also has an article on MS’s plans for Twitch. It is pretty exciting, actually!

The resolution thing never was an issue for me. I give shit to Zos constantly because he’s always explaining anti-aliasing and all these other graphical specs, and I still don’t know what they do, because honestly I don’t care. I’m actively going to be buying a 360 game alongside Titanfall because its prequel was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in a game. I buy based on gameplay. I could still be playing on shitty graphics and not care, just as long as the gameplay is right.

The only reason I included that rumor was because I know there are some of us who like great graphics alongside gameplay.

And now for something completely different.

To the Randomoniums, when the game ends and you find you have 17 deaths and only 5 kills, your team lost miserably, and you are wondering who the heck that “Cornelius Taifu” guy is with the 42 and 2, he is the one in the middle with the blue jacket. LOL

    • February 26, 2014 1:42 pm

Lol, I still am in awe from when I saw Cornie get like 15+ Pilots and 42 grunts with less than 7 deaths. Truly remarkable stuff. We could totally just let your boys wreak havoc while the other 3 of us just hide in a tree somewhere, haha!

BTW Suns, your boys have some talent on their hands there! Quick, milk that puppy for all she’s got and get them touring around the world ASAP!

    • February 26, 2014 4:23 pm

      LOL Thanks, Grymmie!

Yeah, next thing I know, they are running around shirtless on stage while they get sprayed with water, or getting their breasts augmented.

Awesome, awesome stuff, Mike! The talent that the boys have & the majority of it has been self taught is absolutely amazing. Sherri watched the vid with me, and said that Chiiko must be really proud of her boys. They must bring a smile to her face very often. Great boys! 😀
