Happy Birthday, Cornie!

February 14, 2014

UPDATE: I wanted art for this post, but I didn’t want some stupid birthday cake image.  Well, sometimes waiting is the right thing to do.  PA’s write-up is here and here. Also, the Game Informer tells us why Titanfall is going to change trends in FPSes.

4GN is In and Downloading (the Titanfall Beta)!

Extremely long gaming session interspersed by brief periods of snacking, pooping, and sleeping are expected over the next 2 to 3 days!  Bring gifts of time and join us as we celebrate 12 years of 4GN!

We stand to possibly receive another 5 codes.  If we get more, we will share with the have-nots.

And leave your Beta impressions here!

I am responding for Cornie here, Thanks, Everyone! The Beta code came just in time to get him online and playing with The Stranded, rockin’ 6 deep! In three hours of straight gaming, I think you guys only lost once, and that was the time when you tried to co-ordinate your Titans.

Great game. Burn cards are fun, but are like the x-factor Gears, or crit-hits in TF2. They may prove problematic as twice last night, Cornie was granted an instant Titan. All other players have to fight their way through the first four minutes. By that time, they were dominated.

The Stryder is incredible. Weak, but fast!!!!!

Use your Burn Cards. XP boosts help deliver your Titan faster. Unlimited nades help shorten the time between Titans, Shaving forty seconds off Titan Fall gets you in the mech just that much faster. Pilots are incredibly deadly, but Titans win matches. It is all about the Titans.

Use extended survival with nuclear self-destruct perk. That allows you maximum time to wreak mayhem and snuggle up close to the enemy before losing your Titan.

Use electric smoke and use it liberally. This will kill or scare off any Rodeo Riders. Any Klingons can easily be killed by ducking after you deploy smoke. This is the equivalent of diving deep in the pool when the pesky little neighbor boy is clinging to your back in the pool. Also, use this smoke liberally for rescue and quick, stealthy escape. It recharges very quickly, and then you are ready to go again.

When in the Titan and you see bots nearby, run over them, literally. Do not waste your rounds or time on shooting them. Don’t worry about precisely stepping on them. If you are close, they will be crushed and that saves your full clip and reflexes for the Titans and Pilots.
