A Love Song From A Different Era

January 23, 2014

For whatever reason, I woke up in the middle of the night with this song running through my head. I couldn’t get back to sleep until I had pulled it up and listened to it on my computer.

I have no illusions about the past when with a beautiful innocence came incredible sexual inequality in the work place and at home. Still, the lyrics of this song describe unselfish feelings without any desire to manipulate:

If she finds that I’ve been ’round to see you
Tell her that I’m well and feelin’ fine
Don’t let on, don’t say, “She broke my heart”
I’d go down on my knees but it’s no good to pine

and it is sung beautifully by an 18 year-old Peter Noone.
