Sign Up For The Titanfall Alpha

January 16, 2014

Here with details here.

Titanfall Alpha
As you can see above, I already have. It can’t possibly be any “buggier” than the BF4 “gold” version. Any early One/BF4 adopter is tough enough to handle whatever crap code any developer can throw at us. Slap us. We can take it.

I received the e-mail last night & already signed up. Hopefully, several of us will be accepted into the alpha/beta testing so we can really get a decent impression of the game before it launches. Anything at this point is better than what BF4’s myriad of problems. And yes, I was rubber banding like crazy last week despite being on a west coast dedicated server with an open NAT. I just rage quitted because it’s just too much to take.

Ok, apparently, there was a patch released on the 15th. Hopefully, that takes care of some of the issues.

We have started rolling out a new Battlefield 4 update for Xbox One. You may experience some downtime while this update is being deployed. Change notes below.

-Various fixes for improving general stability
-Fixed various random deadlocks (the so called “sound loop crash”)
-Fixed flickering in map and minimap on Rogue Transmission and Operation Locker
-Fixed issue with player spawning under the map in Lancang Dam
-Fixed broken collision on containers with open doors. The bug previously made grenades bounce back even though the doors were open
-Fixed an occasional bug where players could experience intermittent engine sound dropouts when driving wheeled IFVs
-Fixed camera glitch when switching weapons while moving in crouch
-China Rising: Fixed animation glitch for motorbike passengers ocuring when aiming
-Increased damage by 25% for the Stealth Jet 20mm cannons
-Normalized repair rates across all vehicles. Vehicles with lower health points, like aircraft and transport vehicles, now repair more slowly than before
-Fixed a bug where the M1 Abrams Coaxial HMG ammo box was occasionally blocking the driver’s camera
-Fix for friendly marker not always showing when needed to, resulting in players shooting team members
-Fixed problem with killer health in kill card not being correctly updated (showing 100% health even though the soldier was hurt)
-Fixed a bug where players’ rank icons in the scoreboard would not be updated
-Fixed issue with soldier health showing 1 HP in killcard instead of 0 HP
-Fixed a player feedback timing issue where blood was appearing before other damage indicators, and before damage was actually done
-Reduced the risk of single player campaign save file becoming corrupt

Updated it yesterday & there’s still some rubber banding on Conquest. Grymm & I already went over the patch notes last night.

Sadly, none of those fixes really are relevant to the real issues this game has. And it seems that with this new patch, there have been new bugs and problems across all platforms. Rubber banding and lag/frame rate drops are more frequent, and the netcoding is still shit.

I’m getting pretty close to the edge with DICE. If they don’t take serious action soon, or at least publicly apologize, it may be done.

Thanks, Guys. Reading the list myself, I thought it might be just swatting at flies when the aardvark was allowed to roam the living room freely. 😦

I just received my code for the Alpha test. I know what I’ll be playing all weekend! The Alpha ends on January 19th 20th @ 9 PM PST (Respawn extended it by an extra day due to the MLK holiday). So it’s only for three four days!

    • January 17, 2014 2:54 pm

WOOT! Hey, we were never sent invites, nor has there been any response in our mailboxes with codes. I never read the NDA so perhaps, from the beginning, it was for Americans only. Anyway, I look forward to hearing you play it. Can’t wait! With The Division almost certainly set for a delay, this is THE big release of the year. No doubt. (By the way, I wouldn’t be surprised if after the Alpha and before release, they still put out a beta that is more open to the public.)

Unfortunately, the server stress test was geared for North America. It also looks like no one here but me got into the alpha. 😦 I wish you guys got to experience what I have so far. It truly is the must-have game for the One since The Division will most likely be delayed. Like I said last night in the party chat: BF4 (boo!), Titanfall, Evolve (looks promising so far), The Witcher 3, & The Division are on my short list in this early state of the One.

Update: 4GN & Grymmie got a chance to take their swings on the Alpha. Exciting times for the One! Woot!

Haven’t tested BF4 on the PS4 yet. PS3 has some awesome free games. Bioshock infinite, Borderlands 2, and the new DmC. The PS4 controller is awesome. Killzone looks great. Titanfall was my reason to buy an xbox one, but if it doesn’t pan out to the hype, i am thinking of buying another PS4 for me when there are enough games.

Suns, Johann, Cornie, Timmy, Grymmie, & myself have all had a chance to play the Alpha build and we all agree that Titanfall is the “real deal.” This IP is fresh, yet very familiar in a good way. This is the next big thing; a system seller. TF is the reason to get a One and that’s not hyperbole. Jump ahead, Frank!

    • January 19, 2014 2:47 pm

TF is a system-seller. With the AI, it provides fodder for the unskilled, and yet it is deep and the controls and netcoding are tight for the competitive gamer. Many very smart game design decisions went into Titanfall. It isn’t hyperbole to suggest that rolling 6 deep (or not) this is the new “Gears” for the Stranded in that it will be keeping people up late in the night for just one more match of hoots and hollers. Also, like the CoD franchise, there will never be a time when one cannot find a match. The community will be huge!

BF is still my Star Wars, but as regards the state of BF4, “Lucy” has some ‘splainin’ to do, especially for those who don’t like it unconditionally as I do.
