The Xbox Invitation
I love clever ad campaigns and this is well done. Go Mad Men!
In the battle for our dollars, Sony and Microsoft are duking it out, albeit with very different strategies. Rumors are rampant about machine specs and pre-orders, and Microsoft is either taking the high road, or silent because they have nothing with which to defend themselves. Johann and I have been spending quite a bit of time lately discussing the next generation machines and we always have to end our conversation with, “Not being able to jump in Day One is not all bad. A couple of weeks after launch will tell much”. Resolutions, framerates, and sell through numbers will all be made crystal clear within a month or so. I shall be watching the “careers” of PS4 and One with great interest.
The saving grace about this generation as opposed to the situation a couple generations back, is that the console manufacturers (and the PC industry) are all healthy, with massive war chests. In years past, if you bought the wrong console, you could expect it to have a very short life and quickly evaporating third party support (kind of like the WiiU, actually). The days of the Odyssey2, Jaguar, N64, Saturn, and Dreamcast are gone, however. Yet, their impact, that is, the birth of the fanboi, is felt even today.
And here is 20 minutes of BF4 Flood (PC). Via EvAv.
