Gravity – ty’s Review

We love space themes here and it looks like ty just posted his spoiler free review of Gravity.  It is being lauded elsewhere as one of the best space movies ever.  Looking forward to it.

Also, looks like Ars Technica poked some “holes in the Gravity trailer with NASA’s help“.  Extended trailer after the jump.  Don’t watch any of these trailers if you want to see it without any preconceptions.

And there is this movie! The trailers continue to pique my interest.

For whatever reason, it reminds me of Razor’s Edge.

Seriously? This is a real movie? I’ve heard the name, but never knew what it was about or who was in it. Bill Murray? Wow. looks really really corny.

Yes, it looks like the years were very, very hard on it. Trailers were also made very differently in those days, and the sound and video quality, or lack thereof, don’t help it one little bit either.

Bill Murray’s character was dealing with personal and world suffering. It was his spiritual journey which ends slightly cliche, but nonetheless, it put a smile on my face. I suppose I might not even be able to sit through it now. I really enjoyed it at the time, however.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. A lot of old movies that I loved at the time, turn out much differently once watching again in recent years.

Movies of note that turned out bad after watching again years later:
      1) Spinal Tap
      2) Red Dawn
      3) Actually…. Anything filmed in the 1980’s

Spinal Tap?!? That movie is still great. lol

AND tons of great movies in the 80s (Indiana Jones, tons of sci fi etc).

Jimmy is hitting that sauce pretty hard to forget about classics such as Aliens, E.T., SW: The Empire Strikes Back, The Goonies, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Say Anything, so on, & so on. What the heck are you smokin’, Jimmy?!?

Thanks for sharing the love. I was gonna link here and tell people to see this movie in IMAX 3D or the equivalent while it’s in theaters. This is easily one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Just beautiful in so many ways!

Seeing it a THIRD time in IMAX this weekend. For my wife it will be her FOURTH viewing!

It’s easily akin to Avatar or Prometheus in terms of seeing it in IMAX. Even if you don’t like the movie, I bet you’ll love the experience and visuals.
