For Team ZOR

May 7, 2013

You got your Doritos Crash Course 2 for free, available tomorrow. (And apparently, Monaco will be hitting XBLA on the 10th – thanks Kenai!)

And you got your Splinter Cell Spies vs Mercs

There are two main modes:
CLASSIC SvM – 2v2; just like you remember it from Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory
BLACKLIST SvM – 4v4; plenty of customization!

Someone said “class-based”. I think I am probably going to have to pick this one up, too, but not until it goes digital. Our wall of un-resale-able games is shameful, embarrassing, and downright inconvenient.

I let Team ZOR know about Crash Course 2 last night when I party chatted with them. Zos was very excited to learn that it was free! Can’t beat free, right? 🙂

Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s Spies vs. Mercs seems to take the MP gameplay back to the days when it was great. rED was very interested in it when info was released last week. Although I’ve purchased & played every Splinter Cell, I’m hesitant on buying yet another game at the end of this console cycle.

I hear you about the console cycle. I am assuming that the rumor about the inclusion of a 360 system chip is true. If it isn’t, and we will know for sure very soon, then every purchase here on out will be like pulling teeth. If it is true, then it isn’t so difficult because we will be able to carry our play over to the new hardware, and the next gen games won’t be flooding the trays for a while after launch.

I will be buying SplinterCell for sure. Crash Course 2 is a godsend.

I also recently bought CounterStrike: GO. Don’t regret the purchase, as the game is awesome. But there are a couple flaws.

    1) It requires you be in “game-channel” at all times. The only time you can be in “party-chat” is when you are playing “offline” with bots and NO friends. Their casual modes, private and custom games all require being in game-chat. That is something that sounds like a PC developer porting the console version that was not familiar with the market. Either that, or they designed these aspects the same for PS3, which has no party channel.

    2) Grymm’s internet is too slow to play with more than a handful of players. The game does not seem to use any form of servers (maybe the non-casual modes do?) I shall investigate that.

It really is a shame, for if this game allowed for party chat in some modes, the CS formula really tailors to the “stranded” preferred gameplay methods. It is very similar to the feeling of GoW (one life, small team sizes, reliance on map placement and strategy). On another random note, it got me thinking about how the “bomb plant/defuse”, “hostage rescue/defend” modes would have lent themselves perfectly to the GoW formula. THAT is where Epic should have gone when expanding their modes originally. GoW judgment is actually similar to this concept, but more “team death match” based strategy modes would have been incredible. Maybe GoW4?

This will be difficult NOT to buy.

This game will be good for the MP only. Pissed about them ditching Ironside as Fischer. I’d wait for a sale. LOVED the MP in Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory. Good to see them going back to full form.

Completely agree about Ironside, but I imagine SP will still bring a lot of solid content.

Played some Crash Course 2 last night. It is an excellent example of free-to-play. Lots of fun, many improvements, easy Cheevos for those who care. I recommend it whole-heartedly. (I won’t be playing a lot of it because I am lousy at those kind of “timed” games, but that doesn’t mean I cannot appreciate quality when I see it. – look for me in the Skyline OverRun Demo.)

This makes things interesting…a next gen splinter cell already in the works…maybe at E3?
