A:CM TV Trailer

January 15, 2013

Making the game look like a movie is a great idea for their advertising campaign.  Very cool!

OT A friend from high school e-mailed me this vid this morning. Great production values showcasing incredible BMX talent.

    Suns and Blankman,

It is / has been somewhat of a lean MP season for us Stranded guys. We don’t really have a “go to” MP game as a group. So far from what I’ve seen regarding this Alien’s game, I don’t see this as a “game changer”. Looks like a fun $30 game for a couple weeks…

I hope I’m wrong. I’ll be watching for the industry reviews (and yours), before I commit.

Kenai, we have been missing our Blank/Kenai/Suns go-to game, no doubt.

I am not sure how long the L4D-esque MP of A:CM will last, but I am quite confident that the 4 player co-op will be absolutely fantastic, which justifies the purchase for me. I will be playing this one more than I played Borderlands 2, even if I don’t like the MPvs. Though I would still gladly put BL2 in the tray anytime, the problem with different levels/progress, and for me personally, the high-maintenance inventory system become soft barriers to us picking it up and playing together at any time.

A:CM has neither of those problems. It will be very easy to pick up and play in any number of different modes. It will be no “darker” than Gears, and less upsetting because there won’t be the humiliation executions etc. The story will be even more “replayable” because it is Aliens. Aliens, Blade Runner, and The Thing are the trifecta/hat trick (for rED and Grymm) of the SciFi world. Gears is rich and fantastic, but Aliens? This shit is source.

Also, it may very well be that the MPvs turns out to be every bit as good as L4D but different enough that we can’t put it down for months.

I am not trying to persuade you to buy it because I know you are a softy in that department – always willing to “jump in”. On the day of release, or shortly thereafter, you will be pickin’ it up if you see us having fun.

EDIT: With the exception of a bunch of cool looking XBLA games, this may well be my last $60 game purchase of this generation. There is nothing of interest to me in development right now other than A:CM. That, and all the games already in my library (including BF3 if it can hold its player base) should be enough.

EDIT 2: A:CM just went gold.

As Blankman always says, “I’m ur Huckleberry.”

Keep me posted and I will pick it up. With that said, I’ve been craving L4D2 for the past couple months. Re-bought it as a digital download a couple months ago, and we’ve played it once as a group since then. Next time we have a group session, I’d love to fire that up for a little while. Fond memories of beating Gnome Chompski, and furious standoffs at the farm house waiting for the armored truck to pick us up.
