Borderlands 2 Launch Trailer

September 17, 2012
by

Frankly, this game looks totally awesome. I have spent a lot of time thinking about my experience with Borderlands (original) and figuring out what went wrong, and under what circumstances I could find myself playing Borderlands 2 co-op for 10s if not 100s of hours. If it weren’t for insurance fees, a mandatory car tune-up $1000+, and the annual homeschooling retreat cost all hitting at the same time, I would have changed the 1 back to 2 pre-orders and would be all over this ish. However, the budget just won’t bear it right now. Chances are, when the GoTY edition comes out, people will most likely have moved on. If not, then I will be your huckleberry. If you have moved on, then plan on me being there for Borderlands 3, which I have hopes will be 8 player co-op on the next gen machine. πŸ˜‰ Yes, the Force feels strong with this one.

After all that, I asked The Wife for special permission to buy. Made it under the wire. Should be shipping via Fed Ex tonight.

Gonna get me some Blankman gaming time this fall. Kenai, I know you are up for another try at Pandora, because you just buy games. That’s what you do.

From the Penny Arcade Review (which I read to 3GN while they were eating dinner):

One gets the sense that Gearbox understands how to make a truly great Borderlands game after the somewhat surprising hit of the first game, and I can’t wait to see what they have coming for us in the future. For now, fans of the series are going to have a great time with this, and gamers who turned their noses up at the shallow violence of the first game may want to take another look.

    I call Axton or Maya!

Yeah. Yeah…. Didn’t pre-order, but am already going through my normal rationalization….

Chances are that I’ll have it by tonight πŸ˜‰

      “Cave in!!”

Not really, I was planning on getting it. πŸ™‚

Just started with Maya. But (Suns) will work on a couple characters.

Oh! It feels like home again. I love me some Pandora.

    LOL@Blank…and Kenai

They still haven’t shipped the games yet. It would seem that there is a slight delay in the stocking/release of the Asian version. Will keep you posted, and ultimately, it matters not. We will all be rocking several characters to use appropriately depending on the group we are playing with, and will eventually all be hosting/joining full rooms.

4GN is all pretty excited about it.

Once again, the opening scene/song is spectacular! πŸ™‚

      Gearbox is Too Too Cool!

I created a Page for it. Look to your right a little. Direct links to the online Skill Tree pages. Add anything else you want to the page or in the comments.

Kinda disappointed that Amazon didn’t have a release day guarantee for the game. Money is tight, so I went with free shipping. (Also a $20 credit from BF3 pre-orders.) They tell me it will get here next week. They already charged my credit card, but they haven’t shipped it yet…

Anyway, maybe we’ll get it at the same time, Suns, and we can play catch-up with everyone else. I’m can wait a week or two.

I’m not surprised that Amazon didn’t offer release day guarantee due to the sheer number of customers that took advantage of that $10 credit that they offered. There were simply too many to ship out at once without breaking street date. While myself & others chose to partake in the GameStop bonus of the creature arena. That specific DLC will be exclusive to GameStop & will not be offered on XBL since they actually paid Gearbox to create the content. I rolled the dice regardless of the $10 incentive & many others that have been floating around. Toys R Us had a $20 gift card offer for BL2 & Microsoft Store had a $10 credit w/ 1,600 MS points card. Sheesh, so many deals!

Pretty sure the Creature Slaughter Dome will be DLC in a month or two, actually. I thought I read this somewhere on the official website pre-order page, but I can’t verify it as the page is gone. Can’t imagine they’d turn down the massive amount of money they can make by selling it to the masses once the timed exclusivity GameStop paid for is over.

Randy Pitchford specifically told Ryan McCaffrey (ign.com’s Xbox editor) that the Creature Slaughter Dome wouldn’t have been possible without Gamestop ponying up the money for the content. Pitchford made it sound as if the DLC wouldn’t be available outside of Gamestop since he was very clear that GS funded that additional content. You can hear the interview on last week’s ign.com’s Podcast Unlocked: Hail to the King.

BTW: Everyone that registers & links their console gamertag (XBL, PSN, & Steam) via shift.gearboxsoftware.com will receive three additional Golden Keys to unlock uber-loot!!! This is Gearbox’s fan appreciation site similar to THQ’s Darksiders 2 & Rockstar’s VIP Lounge, respectively. In the Xbox-version, the linking of the gamertag is thru the ‘Extras’ option in the main menu. After you’ve linked your gamertag to your registered account (the shift.gearboxsoftware.com site), your three keys should automatically load when you select a new game or continue on the current playthrough. Woot!!!

Update: I’ve front-paged the free Golden Keys info.

I’ll be all over this game once I get back home next Monday/Tuesday.

Not if rED convinces you to play NHL 13! He’s been chomping at the bit for his wingman to come home to the ice! He’s been picking fights & sitting in the penalty box this entire time while you’re in Pittsburgh! Ha!

    • September 20, 2012 9:55 am

Haha true, but I’ve been waiting for Borderlands 2 for quite some time now. So, I think that may have priority over NHL a bit πŸ˜‰

Creature Slaughter Dome wil be available to all eventually…

    http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?p=2572284#post2572284

“What is the Creature Slaughter Dome?
The Creature Slaughter Dome is separate from the Premiere Club and allows you to face off against the toughest monsters in all of Pandora for experience and gear that you can bring back into the main game. It comes free with a pre-order of Borderlands 2 from GameStop in the United States as well as select international retailers designated with an asterik(*) in this thread. In addition, the Creature Slaughter Dome will be made available to all Borderlands 2 players in the months following launch, with the exact details still to be determined. “

Good to hear! I stand corrected, sir. I’m never for exclusionary practices! At least, gamers will experience as much of the BL2 universe that they want to pony up to. πŸ™‚
