Alborz Mountains and Battlelog Loadout

August 30, 2012

There is a bunch of BF3 news, including the fly-through video above, and the already-live Loadout feature on the Battlelog (screenshot after the jump).  You can now make changes to your class-specific loadouts right from your webbrowser in the Battlelog.  This is a feature that BF3 gamers have been crying for since the launch of the Battlelog itself, and it is very slick.  As for the new map, Alborz Mountains, the blog write-up can be found here.  For Premium members, the art book and another video can be found here.

The Battlefield love affair continues. However, on a map such as this, the Xbox limitations are truly exposed. A map like this should be running 64+ players for a game to truly be Epic. 24? with probably half the players up in the air…. I dunno. Happy to have it, but don’t really think it is going to shine on Xbox.

Kenai, I hear ya. Seriously, I am thinking these maps will probably be best for non-Conquest game types. Rush helps concentrate the front line, and Squad Deathmatch and TDM may also be a lot of fun, depending on which area of the map they use. I agree 100%, though.

And good stuff, Frenik! I see you are playing with the color blind settings.

Frenik can you list some basic specs of the computer you use to edit these?

Like how much RAM.. which Processor and video card

    • September 2, 2012 4:46 pm

      2.66ghz intel core duo
      2 2gb ram cards (1067mhz)
Nvidia MCP79 it’s integrated on the motherboard I believe.

I am not editing it though. I just upload it directly to youtube. I can now put videos longer than 15min, and just uploaded one for 33min, so there’s really no need to for me to edit much, I can just upload and select in youtube what I want to show and edit there.

Also since the capture device has a record button with the remote I can easily stop recording when I think I might need to shorten something. It does sometimes take a bit of time to start recording again, so it can’t be in the middle of something. But that way you can pretty much edit on the fly.

Thumb drive worked well. This is the 25min video I recorded with it:

So yeah basically everyone can buy one of these and since it cuts the need of a PC to capture you can pretty much have different perspectives in one household for Suns for example, where having 4 PCs capturing would be much harder.

The only thing your device has against it is that it doesn’t use HDMI. Otherwise, it is truly sweet. I have several external 1TB drives in the house that would work just fine with that thing, but my monitors need VGA, DVI, or HDMI.

Can you get it to record the XBL party chatter?

    • September 4, 2012 7:12 am

yes if you output the voice to speakers (except your voice).

NEW BEST thing. Dont worry Frenik, this one DOES require a PC so yours is still the only option for that. However this box is external (can be used with a laptop) AND does 1080p

      HDMI in and out

    • September 4, 2012 7:30 am

as much as I hate having to downgrade to 720p to play, I still prefer the 60fps rate. Especially for all the games I play. Once they truly do HDMI with 60fps and just a external drive, I will definitely upgrade.

but it’s more apples and oranges, rather than it being better.

Eurogamer review: Armored Kill (8 out of 10)

Love this quote: “Armored Kill is the epic ten-minute blow out, all guitar and drum solos, a ballad of fire and smoke”.

That is for the console version, too (i.e., with less players)! Good news!

It is already paid for, so I cannot wait! Looking forward to trying the alternative gametypes (SquadDM, TDM etc) on it, too.
