More on Monaco

August 21, 2012

Much as I might have concerns about about State of Decay and even Aliens:Colonial Marines, I am 100% confident that this will deliver above and beyond what it promises. Be sure to watch it in 720HD if at all possible because most of the video is actual, highly detailed gameplay. Also, don’t forget that this is 4 player co-op capable, and there is a level editor for creative gamers. Enjoy!

Watched the whole video. Is it just me, or is the game design looking more artistic than previous builds? Should be fun. Willing to give it a try.

rED was just mentioning the other day that XBLA games all require demos, so everyone will have a chance to try what I believe will be terrific fun.

I was telling Blank that it is reminiscent of two of my favorite coin-op arcade games back in the day: Elevator Action (Taito 1983) and Lock ‘n Chase (Data East 1981). Really, due to the complexity of the gameplay (as opposed to the controls which couldn’t be simpler), it is almost RPG compared to those action games, and the theme, charm, and gameplay mechanics make this an absolute must buy for me. We will be getting two copies for four machines, day one.

I will also definitely be getting this game when it does come out. Looks amazing.

Monaco’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/#!/MonacoIsMine) just annouced pre-orders start tomorrow. This is only for the PC/Mac version of the game, not the XBLA version.

Anyway, I’m just going to paste the information direct from their Facebook page. The Monaco website doesn’t have any information on pre-orders, oddly:

“The game will cost $15 at launch, but will be available for a pre-order discount of 10%. So pre-orders will cost $13.50”

“4-packs will be available for $45”

“The PC and XBLA versions will launch at the same time”

“The pre-order will be sold through the Humble Store, and will come with Steam keys”

“The Pre-order will NOT include beta access”

“pre-orders are getting some HUGE goodies: 2 tracks from the OST, Sheet music, and *THE ORIGINAL 2010 IGF PROTOTYPE, renamed MONTE-CARLO!!!*”

Thank you very much for this heads-up, Herandar. I am lucky that the PC version is not releasing before the XBLA version, or I might not be able to resist getting it there first, and then again for the Xboxen. If I make the switch to a Steambox next gen, I would be happy that I have a Steam copy. However, by that time, this game will have gone on some huge Steam sales.

Can’t wait! Seriously, I cannot watch the vids because they make me want the game NOW!
