From Bored-erlands to Borderlands 2: The “Wimoweh” Trailer

July 12, 2012

Great, GREAT trailer! T and C are gonna go crazy. I could see myself enjoying this too, if they have dealt with the “enough of this running shit“. 😉

And speaking of the Lion sleeping tonight, does anyone remember the Nylons?

It is a fun game actually. Other than your very valid point about all the running. B.S. I would drive those vehicles, then they’d blow it up when I got there. I’d have to hoof it all the way back to another vehicle spawn point, all the while fighting off spiders, crabs and monsters….

BL2: Yep: My kids are gonna want a copy. Or two…

Yep, to everything. Including needing a copy or two.

It really does look pretty, too. Has anyone been following this game? Is there any reason to think that they might have dealt with the wide open spaces and lack of vehicles?

*Moved this to it’s own post because of the length, but this is in reply to you Suns.*

They may have made it so there are more Instances rather than just open levels to break up the monotony of running everywhere. They haven’t mentioned anything in that sense, but it seems as though they fine tuned their loot system so that every gun feels unique rather than the same handful of guns with different stats. This game is no joke, fellas. Contender for Game of the Year if you ask me.

Also, the pre-order bonus is a legitimate value. Rather than all the BS EA and Activision and company have been doing you get access to the “Premiere Club” which gives you:

-Gearbox Gold Gun Pack – A package of unique Gearbox Golden Guns to help you start your journey on Pandora!
-Golden Key – Unlock a rare item in the mysterious Sanctuary Loot Chest.
-Vault Hunter’s Relic – Play solo or team up with friends and boost your gear-hunting fortune with the Vault Hunter’s Relic.
-New Character Class – Receive a free download of the all-new Mechromancer character class as soon as she’s available

Everything minus the Character class seems to only be added bonuses that don’t really change the outlook of the game or seem like missing parts to the full game for those who don’t pre-order. Sure you get access to the Key and the Relic, but it’s not like you’ll find end-game loot that is the best in the game.

Also, if you get it from Gamestop you also gain access to the

-Creature Slaughter Dome: Enter the Creature Slaughter Dome and face off against the TOUGHEST monsters in all of Pandora. Your efforts will not be in vain. Gain experience and gear to bring back into the main game. Endure the battle, and you will receive NUMEROUS rewards.

So it seems like a pretty good deal to me.

    Hey guys,

I’ve been pretty quiet lately, and it was over a month between my last two sessions of BF3. It just lacks that certain something that BFBC2 had for me. Given my first sentence, it’s not exactly surprising that I’ve played more BFBC2 than BF3 lately, and even managed to be in a game that got up to 12 v 12 for most of one round the other night. BC2:V is so empty… Lucky to get up to a 4 v 4 game, when 3 of us squad up.

But anyway, Borderlands 2 will be the next game that I get. It will be the only game that I pre-order in a long time. I’m guessing that I’ll get to 150 hours in BL2 before I get to 150 in BF3 (I’m at just over 100 hours now.) Gearbox is very familiar with the complaints regarding the first game. My understanding is that the long running will probably still be in the game, but it will be much less frequent. There is going to be a major hub city (Sanctuary) with a much larger number of NPCs that actually do stuff besides give you quests. Also, all vehicles seat four. I recommend you check out the recent episode of GT.TV for a slightly better preview. Look forward to playing it with y’all.

      Understood, Herandar.

Thanks for the info on Borderlands 2. I suspect there will be a fair number of people jumping on that wagon, even at launch.

I really like the format of this preview by VG 24/7. Wish more media sites would use a similar format. Long clips of gameplay and some interesting information. Very first bit is about fetch quests.

And then right back at you!

The boys have just confirmed that we are getting those two copies I pre-ordered. It’s done.

According to Gearbox, Borderlands 2’s new ‘Badass’ system will have “…infinite levels of progression.”

Their badass system is essentially a progression system that spans across all characters, boosting stats that you choose from a randomly generated list.

Follow the link to Eurogamer for more details as well as some new-ish screenshots that also show off the new character customization.
