Thanks Johann! As soon as the official HD version is posted, it can be swapped in.

Looks a little like CoD, but with environmental destructibility, classes, and kits, and no kill streaks of any kind, it should provide a unique experience. Hopefully, the maps are scaled appropriately and there isn’t too much of a framerate hit.

Regardless, DICE can just shut up and take my money. I want to find out for myself. With my bras.

I BUY maps, I just do.

Played a little MW3 last night. MEH!!! Yeah the maps are “prettier”, but that game is such a campers paradise. We were playing domination (and won), but the guys on the other team didn’t care that they lost. They were content to just stay in their hidey holes and snipe us while all the while our team got the base points.

I almost always play the “Bare Bones” base gametype, so that at least I don’t have to deal with all the Killstreak stuff, but even then, it wasn’t long before I fired up BF3 and started enjoying gaming again.

Regarding the new BF3 maps. I am looking forward to “Infantry maps” to start things off with their DLC.

    AND….

After how much fun we had with the “Vietnam expansion pack”, I will Always buy what Dice is COOKING UP!

It’s a mixed bag, but I think the main difference is being able to play with friends and getting to know the game. I took a massive beating when I started playing MW3 again after abandoning it on the holidays, but the big payoff is that once you learn the maps, camping spots, etc. The game opens up so much more and it doesn’t feel like you are a bullet and kill streak magnet as much.

Also part of that were the community playlists, this is something that Gears needed and not in a “Boomshot/Sniper” kind of way, but to have different playlists like Drop Zone which is areas that drop care packages to whoever holds the hill, it’s been fun beyond belief because you don’t feel like you are up against the wall all the time and you can either run for the hill and capture a big kill streak or protect the hill against the horde of enemies.

Also now that COD Elite works most of my fun comes from capturing something in-game, and then rendering it and posting it on youtube or on facebook. The video tutorials were also helpful in what guns to use and how to use perks and shift my way of playing from time to time so that it doesn’t get repetitive. But overall the main detail that Elite has over Battlelog is that you can jump seamlessly from the game to the app, and being able to track stuff on smartphone apps.

Plus the clan support is built-in the game and it adds as a internal message board within the game app. Pretty much the closest thing to what we had in Halo 2, and the bungie stats in Halo 3/Reach, except I don’t need a computer to keep up with my K/Ds, heatmaps, etc.

…and it cost you fifty bucks! LOL

Frenik, for someone who complains every time a map pack is offered for sale, you sure bought the mother-of-all-mother map packs without even blinking. lol

Cheers, buddy. I just find it very funny. Also, I am very glad that it isn’t the opposite, always saying you’ll buy, but then not. Love having you in the game, whichever one it is, you always know what is going on, what we need, and where we need to go.

don’t forget it costs you fifty bucks a year 😉

No it wasn’t without blinking. I have put in a lot of hours into the game prior to purchasing the Membership.

and yes you are right, many times I buy the DLC after not wanting to buy it, mainly because I feel left out of the loop, doesn’t mean that my grievances with the DLC weren’t wrong, because most of the time, just when I do end up buying the DLC, people who bought it without blinking then move on to something else. Many many DLC come to mind for this.

except for this one, I can have fun on my own and share it easily on youtube:

and there’s hardly any time you can’t find players at any given moment. I value that a lot, I don’t like long waiting times of Gears, or having to check the scoreboard in BF3 to know that the teams are uneven.

Hey, I often look longingly at the #1 and #2 spots on Major Nelson’s Top played games list. The fact that one can always find a match in the CoD games, no matter what country, no matter what time, is no small thing. It almost makes me mad at the game, if that were possible, for “stealing” such a great percent of the Live population. I am curious what happens when the year is up, do you get to keep the maps that were released during that 1 year?

I LOVE map packs. The only one I regret having purchased was the Hang ‘Em High remake for H2 or H3 (can’t remember which). I literally never even played on the maps. The thing is, until recently, I considered all entertainment costs in terms of movie theater tickets. I used to go to premiere movies all the time. So, 10 bucks or so, should get me 2 hours of fresh entertainment. Usually, even games that are quickly abandoned after the DLC provide me with at least that first night of fun. For 800 pts, I can justify it. On the other hand, dishing out 2400+ pts in one hit (a la the Season’s Pass) is psychologically very difficult for me. That is what I consider the price of a full game.

Holy poop, just watched the video and this is guaranteed screaming and loveraging. Rooftop battles = win. So stoked to do some Rush on these maps.

I suck at infantry. I’m going to get killed a lot. Good thing I can use my SPAS-12.

I feel the same way. I don’t know how I am going to stay alive. Always go medic and then nest on top of my regen pack. LOL

DICE just put up an extensive diary on the topic of Close Quarters, along with the following time lapse video.  For better or for worse, this is definitely not a Call of Duty game.

I have big questions as to how this will translate on the 360. Hmm…
