Mark Knopfler’s latest album, Get Lucky, came out about 2 months ago. When I heard he had a new album coming out, I pre-ordered it for my brother whose first major effort at guitar was learning Sultans of Swing. To give you a feel for my brother’s musical taste, he loves Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray, and Mark Knopfler, to name a few. Anyway, he wrote me a letter of thanks the other day, and says that it is his new favorite album. This from the dude that listened to Eric Clapton’s Reptile for about 3 years straight.

And my favorite MK song of all time is Love Over Gold. Not a youtube, but the audio is excellent! Reading in the official MK forums, I discovered that this song was probably just as much about songwriters and songwriting, as it is about a socialite living dangerously.

Dire Straits – Industrial Disease
If I had my own way, I would have turned it up so loud, you would have heard it in North America. As it was, I had to just settle for blasting my neighbors out of their paper-walled homes.
The album, Love Over Gold came out before the more famous Brothers in Arms, and was one of my favorite albums of the ’80s.
