No longer weeks now. Just days.
Click “Like” already.
PlayAsia has shipped my order. This is the first time they have anticipated the shipping time and sent it out before the release date. I might even have it by next weekend. Then again, if it takes as long as Halo 4 did, I can expect to wait for two weeks. Still, better to start now, than a day after the official release date.
In the meantime, some Pinball, NBA2k13, BF3, and maybe even The Cave…. with
TONS OF PARTY CHAT! My three day weekend starts tonight! WOOOOOOOO!!!
TONS OF PARTY CHAT! My three day weekend starts tonight! WOOOOOOOO!!!
OMG. I have been waiting for you to say those words for weeks now Suns.
Love the soundtrack from ‘Moon’. Good choice.
Very excited for this
Nice trailer! I’m starting to get a little excited…
Tonight we game! and Tomorrow. Just need to know if Blank and Zoso are IN!
Can. Not. Wait. I have my Internet going & my Xbox hooked up. Banking enough good will from the wife to rock next week with you guys. We’re still in the midst of getting settled in. “Is this going to be a stand up fight, sir, or another bug hunt?”- Pvt. Hudson
Just pre-ordered on Amazon (free shipping). Should have it Thursday.
Awesome, Jimmy! Always thinkin’ of the crew (though I’ve no doubt you will enjoy)!
UPDATE: Well, maybe some doubt. LMAO!
“Game over, man. Game over.” Hudson couldn’t have been more correct in his utterance of defeat. A:CM appears to be an utter failure. All of the visuals that we’ve seen shown were from the PC-build. The console versions were outsourced to a studio named TimeGate which was responsible for Section 8 & the F.E.A.R. sequels. Ugh. Do NOT open your copies, guys!!! Instead, cancel them and/or send them back, Suns especially. PlayAsia does allow refunds, so get an RMA (Return Merchandise Approval) immediately, Mike! The retail price of the game is sure to plummet in a month due to the terrible reviews. Now I hate aggregate reviews, but there must be some credence to the 50% rating that it’s received so far. This is not a well-received game. This an epic clusterf*ck, guys! Ben Kuchera’s review pretty much sums it up best.
I apologize for hyping this game because Gearbox led me to believe that they knew what they were doing (A:CM will be my Brink). Their previous work with the Brother In Arms & Borderlands franchises earned them a lot of goodwill. Well, apparently they flushed all of that down the toilet because they have yet another Duke Nukemesque mess. Pitchford & crew have not been honest with Aliens fans & gamers because they had a less than reputable studio, TimeGate, handle the console ports. Not only that, but significant portions of the MP versus were handled by another contracted studio (Nerve Studios). I still cannot believe this. Who would have thought that this studio who professed to love the Alien franchise so much could churn out such an abysmal failure? Perhaps it was my love for the Alien franchise that clouded my judgement. I don’t think so because the PR on the game was pretty aggressive with their vidocs & overall media coverage. What a damn shame. In the end, keep your games sealed & return to sender for your hard earned coin back. In three months, this game will be $20-25. Then we can take it out for a bug stomp.
Mine is on the way, but I think based on what you wrote, I’ll send it back.
Plus the other thing that bummed me out was (in a review I read), was that there was only two MP maps. “The rest are coming via DLC.” WHAT?!! 2 maps?! Pass on the DLC. For that matter, pass on the game…
Sorry about all of this, Jimbo. At least I saved us from any further damage. That counts for something, right? Before the game was even released, they had announced a Season Pass. Can you believe the audacity of these clowns? Apparently, the majority of the MP Versus maps will be released as paid DLC along with Bughunt (a Horde-inspired survival mode).
I’m still shocked at how FUBAR the game turned out to be. Gearbox really laid a steaming pile & now they’re trekking it throughout the entire house. Pitchfork & crew lost some serious cred on this one. I don’t care if they outsourced some of the game to other studios. Ultimately, they’re responsible for the game & they’re guilty of misrepresenting it. Now Gearbox is trying to do damage control by scapegoating this mess onto the studios they contracted themselves. WTF?!?
Pitchford and co. are becoming notorious for outsourcing their games to other developers. All 3 BL2 DLCs have been outsourced so far and I believe the 4th will be as well. Along with their love for Season Passes as well I am starting to really despise that company.
After BL1, I was praising Gearbox for their “out of the box” mindset they had with their games, but I mistook that for poor business ethics. Pitchford’s recent bitchfit is regarding the cap level increase in BL2. Pitchford is saying how raising the cap will cause game-breaking unbalancing to the rest of the game. What? Borderlands 1 did it. Sure, you would dominate a majority of enemies, but you didn’t rely on gear and it gave you a reason to play. Borderlands 2 has becoming nothing but a grindfest to get Legendaries with the better drops being 1 in a 1000. And even once you get said drops, the Raid Bosses are near impossible to fight unless you have a full group of 4 players.
Reading Pitchford’s twitter responses to a lot of gamers makes me hate the guy, too. Because he’s the President all of his responses has a “holier than thou” vibe to them just because he’s a high ranking person in the industry. It’s almost that he’s talking down to anyone that isn’t on the Gearbox team.
All in all, I’ve come to this conclusion: Fuck Gearbox. Fuck Pitchford.
The reviewers are tearing this up (and having fun doing it).
BTW: All the hate on this game makes me appreciate the L4D franchise that much more.
Game Informer: Take away the Aliens license, and you’ve got a shooter that has no reason to exist.
Gamereactor Sweden: It makes me wonder: did Gearbox actually sit down and watch the Alien movies?
Eurogamer: Even if it were polished to an acceptable, 2013-standard AAA shine, Colonial Marines would still only be a generic effort coasting on borrowed iconography. Weighed down by so many grindingly obvious mechanical issues, it never even gets off the ground. For a game all about exterminating bugs, it’s a fatal irony.
Dang! My only disappointment is not having a fresh MP game for all of us. I’m thinking more and more about Gears Judgment and Grand Theft Auto 5. GTA5 (only if they’ve improved the wonky controls…)
Er… Um, no on GTA5. I’m not even sure about Gears: Judgement. This is some truly sad crap. We haven’t had a single game that has unified us in quite awhile.
On the other hand, many of us still have L4D 2 (now that it has all of the original L4D maps). We really need to pick that up again. We used to have a blast with it. Time to put that disc back in the tray!
We were playing on Friday. Suns, Johann, Zoso and I. We had Zoso text you to get you on. But you was movin in to the new pad.
Yes, I will play L4D2. I’ve was playing Campaign last week (with some human team mates). Love having ALL the maps (Coldstream included).
Not sure about Gears either. I might get it just for Campaign (but if that is the case, maybe we just wait till the price drops and get it at the same time).
My MP style has changed. I enjoy games that are not so in my face (long range shooting like BF3 and Halo 4).
I will play some BL2 with you. I have the DLC pass, but haven’t even played since I finished the main story.
NeoGaf does A:CM Some fun gifs in there:
Also, yeah, no GTA5 for me either, and let’s skip Gears: Judgement until it hits the bargain bin at least.
L4D2, BL2, ME3, and maybe we can even scare up some other oldie favorites to take us to the next gen.
Ben wrote about the difficulty of making Aliens games.
Oh my goodness, I love the look of the Marine in the second panel, hahaha.
I can finally breathe a sigh of relief. PlayAsia was kind enough to credit the price of A:CM fully, and have already applied it to Cornie’s birthday present purchase of Bioshock Infinite. He will get infinitely, pun intended, more enjoyment out of that title than any of us in the house would have out of A:CM.
And so closes the chapter on this game rated with the “forbidden numbers”.
Good news, Suns! At least we dodged that A:CM disaster.
Yep. Completely unscathed, except for your reputation. LMAO
Hey, if Brink taught us anything, it is to bail when you think you should or be prepared to suffer the consequences.
Bail! Bail! Bail!
Sweet lessons learned.
My reputation is still intact, unlike yours, Suns. Many of us actually bought Brink, or does that fact escape your selective memory? Bwahaha! Heck, Zos & Stephy still have their copies! LOL
We were both deceived by bullshitting developers. You can’t wiggle out of that. The difference is only this. You don’t have blood on your hands. I do. LOL
I drink your MILKSHAKE!!! Hahaha!
